Since we elected him I think we should give him a chance to see what he can accomplish. We elected him so let him lead. Theses backseat drivers who can't wait to hold his "feet to the fire" belong on redstate. These diaries that start off "I raised money for him" or "I worked for him" but are already attacking him make it impossible to believe that you ever supported our future President.
Where is the excitement? Tuesday will be a great moment in our history but it isn't reflected here on mydd. Why is there such a disconnect?
Why is there such a rush to pile on? The Republicans certainly want to hold Obama's "feet to the fire" or "to keep him honest" We all have issues but it is up to the President and his staff to decide which order they should be implemented.
Obama surprised many people by even getting here so isn't it possible that he might surprise us and make this country the envy of the world again?
And not just anyones's heartbeat. We are talking about a 72 year old John McCain who suffered mental and physical torture as a POW for years. Oh yea and he has a history of Cancer
Imagine my surprise after 9 hours on a plane to hear from my Taxi Driver that McCain had chosen "someone" from Alaska and to make it even more exciting a woman.
The same woman BTW who stated "She didn't like Clinton's WHINING" She made this comment at Newsweek's Women & Leadership event last March. (Karen Breslaw "Palin in the Green Room")
People are already saying Palin is no Hillary Rodham Clinton but then who is? But we have to ask would she be ready to "take over" the presidential duties of the United States of America in six months or two years?
How much time will we have to get to know her? How much time do we need to make a judgment about a could be President of the United States.
As Obama said Choosing my VP is the most important decision I will make before entering the Presidency.
I thought the "conventional Wisdom" was McCain's weakeness is the economy and he needed to choose someone with business experience and a degree in Economics?
Is Palin going to stand up to McCain like Biden or Clinton would to Obama?
What kind of relationship would President McCain and Vice President Palin have?
Will Palin fight for universal health care?
McCain's choice tells us so much about his character, judgment, and his views of woman. (I don't mean that as a compliment)
McCain is the biggest SEXIST around and talk about sexist policies.
Obama on the other hand has shown sound judgment and will help women and the rest of us so much more than McCain.
Other than being a woman WHY did McCain choose Palin? Is this a throw of the dice or a "hail mary" pass?
Special thanks to "Angrymouse" and "Spanky" for their inspiring
comments and AngryMouse's REC diary.
P.S. I'm sufering from major jet lag so be gentle. (Woke up at 3:00 a.m.)
It's all coming together who would have thought a week ago?
I now understand why Joe Biden was considered for the VP.
I now understand why the Clintons have always admired Biden.
Joe seems in some ways to be like an average Joe but boy is he mad and that compliments Obama.
Many of us are ANGRY at how our country has been dragged through the mud by the Neocons and George Bush.
Biden will speak for for us because we should be angry.
John McCain voted against the minimum wage 19 times. Talk about OUT OF TOUCH I guess when you have 7 homes issues like this are "important" So much for the trickle down theory.
Biden is a great "attack dog"
This is the Bill Clinton we love. The President that served us for TWO terms and who always revealed the Republicans for who they really are.
President Clinton supported his wife passionately and after yesterday's speech we know why.
The media and Republican trolls underestimated the dedication of the Clintons. They have put their country first as always.
The Clintons have transformed DIVISION into MULTIPLICATION in two speeches.
We have the leadership, We are on the RIGHT side of history.
Now it's up to us. We have the power to make history and put President Obama in the White House.
I can only imagine the tears of pride flowing at this moment.
As a long time Obama supporter I have grown to love and admire Senator Rodham Clinton. She just gets better and better and now I clearly see what you see in this amazing woman.
I guess what I want to say is I hope we can fight together not because we have to but rather because we share so much in common.
It's ironic and cruel that we had two Giants to chooses from.
On Mydd we have fought each other and the Republican "hitmen"
I think it's time to focus on all those suffering under the Bush regime and what it would mean if we lost this election to McSame.
For those still bitter I do see what you see in Hillary but I would ask you to look for what we have in common. Let me say I understand why you might be sad but look at what we can accomplish together.
Senator Clinton has just UNITED our party. True leadership that we have sorely lacked over the last eight years. Obama supporters
love and admire Hillary Rodham Clinton. She is a class act and she has won me over. Thank God
WOW Michelle Obama can give her husband a run for his money. She really sounds natural. She was great and I think she nailed why we want Senator Obama as our next President.
I was pleased she mentioned Senator Clinton and I hope by the end of this we will be much closer. What we have in common is we are passionate about making this country and planet better.
Michelle Obama shows what women bring to the "party" As David Gergen just said she rescued the first day of the Democratic convention. How do you think she did?
My best to all democrats .
What an AMAZING strategy for hyping the VP pick but it's too good. I can't take it anymore I will accept anyone as long as they know how many houses they own.
Really I got up at 4:30 A.M. in Tokyo because I was sure I would know who the pick was. Now 6:21 and I know if I go back to bed Obama will announce as soon as I shut my eyes.
As someone mentioned earlier Ms Kennedy has been outstanding and the campaign has been disiplined to the point that all "leaks" seem to be deliberate.
If Obama keeps choosing people like Ms Kennedy we will reach all of our goals.
The Obama campaign has "played" us and the media to perfection.
So help me out here what time will Obama announce his pick?
I was thinking about two comments I read one was yesterday and the other was I think at least a month ago.
This isn't a quote so please forgive me but basically she said Clinton as VP might not be the best use of her talents. When I read this I was a bit surprised but didn't think about it enough.
Then another commentator said something similar which made me start to really think about it and ask myself some questions.
Let me be clear from both comments I gathered that both thought
Clinton would make an excellent VP but it wouldn't be the spot they would choose for her.
Since Senator Clinton ended her run I have convinced myself that there isn't anyone who can help Obama more than Clinton and that goes for Gore too. So from this point of view I haven't changed my mind as to wanting CLINTON in fact I want her MORE as each day passes.
But I do think it's important to ask
Would Clinton be restricted by being VP? In the past the VP job wasn't too exciting but then came Cheney.
If Clinton became Vice President this would be historic. Is this more important than passing laws that would change people's
lives?
If you supported Clinton for President is it possible that you wouldn't choose her as VP because she would be more useful in another position?
What would that position be? In charge of universal health care?
What are Vice President Clinton's chances of winning the Presidency after eight years?
